*Maintenance, repair, replacement would be provided only during the training period.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must have a significant visual impairment which constitutes or results in a substantial barrier to employment or maintaining his/ her home; and
  2. Requires Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services to prepare for, enter in, or retain gainful employment.

How To Apply:

Contact area office closest to individual's residence and ask for one of the individuals identified in this section or the program supervisor. Any office will direct applicant to his/ her appropriate office.

Helpful Hints:

If you are receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) based on disability and you have an interest in working, you are eligible for VR services.

All devices/ services are dependent upon the availability of funds.

A waiting list exists.

When appropriate the Agency will refer the individual with visual impairments to other agencies and/ or organizations to get the needed devices/ services.

Vocational Rehabilitation goods and services may only be provided as a result of a jointly developed Individual Plan for Employment (IPE) which contains a vocational goal.

This agency does not purchase guide dogs or pay for guide dog training. Hearing aids would be purchased only for adults.
